Principal Scientist - Process Modelling

Introduction to role:
Are you ready to lead the charge in revolutionizing pharmaceutical processes? We are seeking a Principal Scientist in Process Modelling to design, develop, and deploy cutting-edge mechanistic, hybrid, and data-driven modelling solutions. Your expertise will drive the advancement of manufacturing process modelling for active pharmaceutical ingredients, ensuring the effective utilization of modelling and simulation in process development. Collaborate with internal and external partners to foster innovation and nurture scientific growth across the modelling function. Are you up for the challenge?
Accountabilities:
- Design, develop, and deploy mechanistic, hybrid, and data-driven modelling solutions for a broad portfolio of pharmaceutical processes, including unit operations and continuous processes.
- Drive digital design strategy and utilize models and digital tools in regulatory submissions.
- Use programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, and R to translate complex mathematical models into reusable code elements.
- Develop mathematical models using engineering, chemical, or materials science knowledge and translate them into computer models using platforms like gPROMS, Aspen, DynoChem, and ANSYS.
- Implement process modelling in established workflows and document progress through scientific communication, maintaining current knowledge of new modelling techniques.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Possession of a significant scientific background with a higher degree or PhD level education linked to predictive-modelling chemical approaches
- Evidence of development of chemical models sufficient to develop ‘right, for right now’ thinking and a life cycle management perspective
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to engage and collaborate across boundaries, displaying a problem-solving approach and a focus on delivering results
- Highly experienced in influencing and stakeholder management
- Able to work in a global, multi-cultural business environment
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Experience with ‘Enterprise Architecture’ data structures and how to align to them
- Experience of working with external partners/suppliers
- Experience leading a team and developing others through coaching and mentoring
- Understanding of lean principles and demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvements
